Shortly after we went on our glamping trip, we eventually made our way to Lake Powell in Page, AZ for some more family-friendly outdoor time. The lake is huge and you can do so many fun water activities here. I wanted to share the place we stayed that has the BEST view and things to do and see if you are planning a trip to Arizona!
Where to Stay at Lake Powell
It takes about 6 hours to get to Lake Powell from Park City, Utah. This is the place we stayed at. It is older and more like a motel, but it is the only hotel on the water. The views are gorgeous and so worth it. The photo above shows our view from the hotel! The pool and bar area is awesome but it was closed due to covid.
Houseboats at Lake Powell
Lake Powell is known for their houseboats. Since it was our first time visiting, we wanted to get familiar with the area first. Next time we are going to rent one! I can’t speak on the rental process, but the hotel we stayed at also offers houseboat rentals. They have great reviews and this page gives you more information on boat options and pricing.
What to Do at Lake Powell in the Summer
Although known for their houseboats, there are still so many other fun things to do at Lake Powell even if you don’t rent one. There are small coves and narrow passageways you can explore with jet skis. Highly recommend that! Also lots of people jump off the cliffs. The water is 400ft deep!!! We did rent a wake boat (shown below) and the boys loved that. Plan to be out on the water the majority of the day, but don’t forget to stay hydrated and eat! We would pick up subway sandwiches after breakfast and take them on the boat.
Where to Eat Near Lake Powell
We ate in town for our meals. Page, Arizona has a lot of great restaurants and a lot of the dining options are just under a 20 minute drive from our hotel. We especially loved Fiesta Mexicana. They’re family-owned and so good if you’re looking for authentic Mexican food. We actually ended up eating there twice. For breakfast, we went to Ranch House Grille every morning.
Other Places to Visit Near Lake Powell
We didn’t have extra time, but if you are planning a trip here, I’ve heard great things about Horseshoe Bend. It’s only a 30 minute drive from Lake Powell. It’s a short 1.5 mile roundtrip hike and the view is supposed to be gorgeous so definitely carve out time in your travel itinerary to visit if you’re in the area. The pictures below are of Horseshoe Bend. Antelope Canyon is another popular attraction in Page, AZ that you may also want to look into!
