Can you believe that summer is nearly here? I know you guys know what month it is, but….. how is it mid-May already?!? I can say I am extremely excited that I don’t need to worry about school carpool for a little while. Although, school carpool will inevitably be replaced with summer activity carpool, I’m sure. ???? Before I have to worry about that, our family is taking a beach trip soon to Port Aransas and we are so excited. Our family has been going to Cinnamon Shores since it was developed. I did a Cinnamon Shores recap last year of our go-to places and where we stay and will post another full update soon, but in the meantime would love restaurant recommendations from anyone who’s visited before!
Now given the timing and our travel plans, I thought it calls for a post that covers the essentials of what goes in my summer bag! Also highly recommend checking out my last week’s top 5 because there are some cute beach-friendly fashion picks!

What You Need In Your Beach Bag
Well first off, you’re gonna need a beach bag to start with. ???? One of my favorite parts when summer rolls around is the straw bag trend. Your summer bag is going to need to be pretty spacious. Unless you’re the kind of girl that doesn’t need or like to carry much at a time, then a smaller tote or crossbody is totally fine! I like a bigger bag because when you have 3 boys with you at all times, you never know what you’ll need to have handy. Love these four below!
Essential #1: Sunnies
I wear these Chloe sunglasses quite a bit, but they are a higher ticket item. These sunglasses are a fun, pretty similar dupe on Amazon. Or of course, can never go wrong with a pair of classic Rayban aviators.
Essential #2: Floppy Hats
If you’ve ever gotten a sunburn on your scalp then you definitely know why a floppy hat or sporty baseball cap is a crucial addition to your summer bag. Aside from protecting from a painful scalp burn, a hat also protects your face and neck from the sun and wrinkles.
Essential #3: Flip Flops
I usually wear standard rubber flip-flops while our family is actually at the beach during the day, and switch to a more fun sandal like Jack Rogers at night if we head out to a restaurant for dinner.
Essential #4: Sun Protection + More
This is not sponsored by Supergoop by any means, but I have to tell you guys about this stuff! Sunscreen can be a necessary evil. We have to protect our skin especially when we’re outside doing summer things in the harsh sunlight. Sunscreen can either 1.) smell awful 2.) leave a thick, oily residue that just does not look or feel good or 3.) both. Supergoop is none of those things. Highly recommend giving it a shot this summer. They have a lot of different products!
Don’t forget to grab a beach towel (this one has pineapples and this one has a bunch of different prints) and stay hydrated by keeping your drink cold in a S’well bottle!
I mentioned we’re going on a beach trip and I am so excited!! What summer plans do you have planned?
xo, Jaime
